About Mike Spolar

A graduate of Chancellor University, Mike Spolar holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Shortly after graduating, he joined Ernst & Young in Cleveland, Ohio. For 5 years he prepared and reviewed tax returns, advised about tax strategies, and handled tax planning for both individual and corporate clients. After leaving the firm, he spent 2 years as an advisor for IMG. In this capacity, he worked with corporate executives and professional athletes around the world and assisted them with their finances and tax returns. Mike Spolar now leverages this hands-on experience in the financial services industry to lead Lackey & Company, CPAS, as owner. Through this firm, he largely focuses on providing assurance and tax services.

Outside of work, Mr. Spolar maintains an active role in his community. He supports the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) and was president of the Saint Francis Boosters club. He was also involved with the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO). In 2008, he re-established the CYO’s basketball tournament and re-built it into the largest CYO tournament in the Cleveland area. When he initially took over the tournament, it had 28 basketball teams that would participate, but he ultimately grew it to include more than 100 teams. Further, Mr. Spolar was finance board president for Saint Francis School and is an AICPA member and active parishioner at Saint Clare Church.
